Before renting bike make sure that you have inspected bike from every angle possible. Brake pads must be present and in acceptable condition, rubber has to have the marking picture easily visible, the brake handles have to be working. Make sure you check the breaks in action before you rent the bike. You have to ride it and see how it reacts when going in straight line( if front wheel fork is damaged then it would not go perfectly straight and it might affect your steering wheel/ 0r wheels when turning). Year of bike, milage, bike documents and visual condition of bike are factors that should also be considered.
